A Wild Jouney - Expedition Africa 2008-2012

Who is the team? They are 2, actually 3, but one of them you will meet one page down! They met on the other side of the world in „Kiwi Country“, but their homes are only a few kilometers from each other. How come they met in Middle Earth, home of the Lord of the Rings? They like travelling and the desire to know more led them both to New Zealand, where nowadays many young people go. Travelling is not a cheap hobby, so most of the time they combine getting to know the beauties of the world with work. They worked in many different areas, on farms, in vinyards, in factories, on boats and in business. They met many people, not only good ones, and saw lots of beautiful places. And now they decided to visit the countries of Africa!

ANDREA

She is a young woman from Vojkovice and originally finished her education in hospitality before working in a few different jobs in Prague and Karlovy Vary. In her holidays she mostly went to European countries. The travel bug started to itch quite strong and for the first time she went on a very long trip to New Zealand, working and travelling. There she became an aunt to her brother’s son.

On her return to Czech Republic she helped and spent some time with her Mom and Dad, went to see her cute little nephew and widened her knowledge through some requalifications. But the long time dream came back – to go and see Africa! From the original plan to go to Africa as a volunteer we changed into our own transcontinental trip after reading travel diaries and websites. As preparations for this take a while and cost money she went to Sweden and England for work and partly holiday.

Andrea loves cute animals and the beauties of nature, and freedom is one of the big importances of her life as well as curiosity about the unknown and new!
AND: With her delicious cooking she will keep up the moral of the expedition and make sure they don’t starve.

RENÉ

He is a young man and originally a travel agent, but gave it up for going travelling himself. Right after finishing education in Germany he went to Australia, then to Sweden, England and then back down under, to New Zealand. With Andrea he went to Scandinavia to work and to make it to the North Cape and spending time in beautiful Lappland.

Education and experience are as important to him as freedom, knowledge and adventure. Besides travelling he likes reading books, writing or making knives from natural materials to the sounds of medieval music (sometimes you can see him running around in his kilt, swinging a sword).

He enjoys nothing more than sitting by a campfire, surrounded by untouched nature, where he can grill own freshly caught fish! So when he came from New Zealand to rejoin Andrea and she told him about her dream of Africa, he just couldn’t resist.
